*Demonstration of lacemaking by the Idrija Lace School students

Can you hear this lively, wonderful sound of bobbins? I wonder where it comes from.

It’s made under the lace parasol in front of the Idrija Lace School, where nimble fingers intertwine the threads of tradition to create the famous Idrija lace.

You are cordially invited to watch a demonstration of lacemaking by the Idrija Lace School students. The young lacemakers will be happy and proud to show you their pillows, reveal the mysteries of lacemaking, and open the door into the world of skill and patience needed for lacemaking. The demonstration is a great opportunity to peak behind the curtain, ask questions, and feel the pulse of live heritage.

The visitors will also be able to try and make lace yourselves – spin the bobbins in your hands and feel the rhythm of lacemaking.
