IDRIJA LACE FOR YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND TOMORROW – an exhibition of visual artworks by members of the Cinober Idrija Art Society.

Idrija lace is a living cultural heritage that tells the story of the past, faces the challenges of the
present, and guides us into the future. The preservation of tradition, the meeting of contemporary
aesthetic and functional trends, and the continuation of the globally recognized Idrija bobbinlace
tradition are the shared efforts of numerous institutions, associations, and individuals. Above all, we
must not forget the dedicated, persistent, and highly skilled lace makers.

The members of the Cinober Idrija Art Society also seek to record and preserve lacemaking stories for
future generations through the language of visual art. With our exhibitions at various exhibition
venues in Idrija, we have been contributing to the festival program of the Idrija Lace Festival for
fifteen years. This year’s selection is once again devoted to this very purpose: nurturing a living
relationship with the lacemaking past, observing present-day practices, and perhaps sensing the
lacemaking future to come.
