The museum started collecting and preserving lace at the end of 1960s and today the lace collection is one of the largest collections it holds. Featured in it are bobbin laceworks, especially Idrija lace, textiles with lace inserts, designs, lacemaking accessories, artworks, and materials connected to lacemaking in Slovenia and Europe. The definitions and the descriptions of the bobbin laceworks in the collection are the result of extensive research, studying their development in technology and design, as well as comparative research. The collection features more than 250 laceworks preserved by conservator-restorers of the Regional Museum Ptuj – Ormož over the last 20 years. Some of them will be presented to the public for the first time.
