Lacemaking presentation and socialising

As lacemaking has been present in Idrija and the wider region for centuries, it is not surprising that the old and the young still enjoy this activity. For many, lace symbolises tenderness and whiteness, while others use it as a medium of expression in colour and innovation. Like everything else, lace has not stayed trapped in time and space. New ideas are extremely important, so long as they maintain the quality and the identity of bobbin lace. The Idrija Lacemaker Association tries to spread the word of the laceworks we create. We continuously seek to improve our Idrija bobbin lace techniques, enjoy showing our skill to others, and love to socialise with bobbins in hand.
